// What was your path to becoming a professional photographer?

I have always been creating things ever since I was little and I ended up graduating with a photo degree. I love creating photographs that push the limits, it is such a great feeling.

// What’s the story behind your winning image?

I have have always loved my mom’s clawfoot tub so I shot this series in there for a specific art show. Her house is over 300 years old so I wanted to shoot an eerie but soft series in her master bathroom.

// What has been the greatest influence in your work?

My dreams! I have such vivid, magical dreams that spark my creative brain.

// What creative projects are you currently working on?

I just finished with a show in Los Angeles. The series I shot for that involved my two younger sisters, my backyard and glitter.

// How do you stay motivated to shoot and create?

Stocksy has been a great help in keeping me motivated, because of all the other talented photographers and constantly seeing their amazing work.

// What is the creative community like in your hometown?

There were many creative people around, but I am not in touch with many anymore since most have moved away or stopped creating. I stay in touch with creative people from various places around the world through Instagram and Vine.

// What does winning Surreal Photographer of the Year mean to you?

Words can not truly express my happiness from this. Whenever I am asked what type of photographs I make, I always reply with “maybe fine art/surreal photography”. It is always so hard for me to put my work into a specific category, but if I were to do that, surreal would be the one.

// Anyone special you’d like to thank who has contributed to your success?

I first want to thank my loving and supportive boyfriend Chris Melberger, he told me to apply for Stocksy 2 years ago, and I am so glad that I did. Secondly my supportive family and friends, you have been there for me throughout my creative journey, thank you for everything — much love!
