Balance, framing, staging and depth are all key to how you present \u201cspace\u201d in a scene. Some composition\u00a0principles to take in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Intentionally direct the positioning of elements in your frame to enhance the meaning, emotion and outcome you want to achieve from a shot.<\/li>\n<li>Classic composition techniques such as \u201cthe rule of thirds\u201d, \u201cthe golden ratio\u201d, \u201ctriangular composition\u201d are still useful and still found today in professional video and film.<\/li>\n<li>Try and tell an entire story with one single shot.\u00a0Composition, first and foremost, should draw a viewer\u2019s attention \u2013 what should the viewer be looking at and how can you make them look at it.<\/li>\n<li>Try the\u00a0Rule of Thirds &amp; Golden Ratio \u2013\u00a0An image can be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines. Important compositional elements can be placed along these lines or their intersections to create balance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n      \n              \n        \n  <\/div>\n  <div class=\"wp-block-column\"><\/div>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n<span data-block=\"block_61a8d0c51a105\" class=\"toc-titles\" data-title=\"Focus\" style=\"display:none\"><\/span>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns stocksy-generic-text-image\" id=\"block_61a8d0c51a105\">\n\n  <div class=\"wp-block-column\" style=\"flex-basis:24%\"><\/div>\n  <div class=\"wp-block-column\" style=\"flex-basis:58%\">\n\n    \n              <h3>Focus<\/h3>\n<p>For a lot of people, the first lens they put on their camera is a 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 to create depth of field. However, you don\u2019t necessarily want to do that as it can cause some technical issues or make you hunt for focus a lot more, so instead follow these tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find focus before you start recording.<\/li>\n<li>Practice the move with your hands beforehand if you are planning on moving in and out of focus.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s very popular to go for extremely shallow depth of field, but avoid it unless it\u2019s necessary for your story, shot etc.<\/li>\n<li>Looking at Hollywood movies for inspiration, you\u2019ll notice that the background often is not out of focus except in specific shot types like close-ups etc. So don\u2019t be afraid to close down to a lower F stop.<\/li>\n<li>When you have two people in a shot, you can switch focus between them to aid the story.<\/li>\n<li>Use intentional focus change within a shot, don\u2019t just play with the focus hunting for your subject.<\/li>\n<li>A good example for switching focus \u2014 when a character turns to look at something, try creating a sense of \u201cbeing\u201d that character by switching the focus to unveil what that character is looking at.<\/li>\n<li>Consider investing in a follow focus solution for your setup that can aid you achieving better focus control.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n      \n              \n        \n  <\/div>\n  <div class=\"wp-block-column\"><\/div>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n<!--Block Image Call to action -->\n\n<div class=\"block-image-cta cta-landscape\"  style=\"background:#c0a079;\"   id=\"block_62b372f6a8a67\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n        <div class=\"row\">\n            <div class=\"col-1\"><\/div>\n            <div class=\"col-5 cta-content\">\n                <h2>Happy shooting!
