Iryna Marchuk

Intermediate Growth Manager

Iryna graduated from the University of Cologne, Germany with a Masters of Economics, and enjoys applying market theory and data analysis as well as connecting with clients.

Originally from Ukraine, Iryna grew up in Germany and now calls Whistler in Canada her home, where she lives with her partner and twin boys. She enjoys the mountain lifestyle including skiing, biking, paddle boarding the lakes and from time to time leaving the Whistler bubble to experience other exciting counties and cultures and to balance time in the mountains with time at the beach.

Julia is a UK photographer who has been obsessing about photography since her early teens. She’s witnessed many life-changing moments while hiding behind a camera, which makes her very happy. She is the youngest of 11 and mother to 4 and loves silence - whenever she can get it. Julia became a Stocksy contributor during the decade she lived in Istanbul, and is delighted to have joined the Artist Relations team.

Once a Carpenter, Casey decided he would turn his passion for coding into his full-time gig. Instead of building homes, he now creates and develops software.

Andrea is an editorial photographer who joined the Creative Research team at Stocksy in 2019. After growing up in Argentina and studying in England, Andrea moved to Vancouver in 2013 where she spent the next 8 years. She is now back in England, based on the south west.

She is passionate about analogue processes and is always plotting how to get her own darkroom and pottery studio space. She spends most of her time gardening, thrifting, or on a long aimless country walk.

After years of trying to make sense of her MFA, art book publishing background with the Museum of Modern Art, and freelance career in writing, photography production, and publication research, Genevieve finally found Stocksy. She joined the Creative Research team in March 2018 as Senior Creative Researcher and has been creative researching ever since.

She also writes art criticism and exhibition reviews for publications such as Artforum and Aperture, is an awardee of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, and is a presenting member of the Society of Photographic Education. She still paints, sometimes.

Since joining Stocksy in 2021, Sonia has been expanding her understanding of the creative world and loves working in an artist-centered space full of passionate and innovative thinkers!

With a diverse professional history, she is compassionate to the array of needs that exists for her clients. She values providing high quality service to our wonderful customers while being open to curiously learning about new experiences along the way.

Outside of work, she can be found in a random thrift store searching for the perfect funky shirt, getting outdoors, and singing along to any song...even if she doesn’t know the words!

Born and raised in Tokyo Japan, Masagi fell in love with the beauty and nature of British Columbia. As a bilingual marketing specialist, Masagi has ran countless marketing projects for tech companies both in Japan and Canada. When she is not working, she is busy discovering new parks and trails to picnic in. She also plays badminton and golf occasionally but not at the same time.

Ian joined Stocksy after a decade in the nonprofit sector where he learned that he liked people, processes, and pie charts. Outside of the office you may find Ian trying to turn rooms into jungles, finding new instruments to toil over, or hanging out with friends in imaginary dungeons. These hobbies tend to distract him from his perpetually itchy feet that have led him delightfully astray on many memorable Earth-wanderings.

No matter how hectic or challenging life can get, he is a firm believer that it’s all part of the adventure.

Seeking a better work/life balance after working in healthcare for 7 years and through the pandemic, Jen was grateful to change careers and joined Stocksy in 2022. Now onto a new chapter in tech, she can augment her skills and experience to adapt, learn and grow while feeling fulfilled to be a part of a co-op that values culture, ethics, creativity, and quality.

Located in Nanaimo to truly take advantage of the central location on Vancouver Island to do what she loves most: hike around and swim in the ocean. A few other mentionable favourite things are her dog, plants, reading, sleeping, beer, food, movies and traveling. Always ready to party hard + always keeping it real and dishing out the good vibes.

After working in the stock photography industry for 10 years, Ivar was growing more and more frustrated as the industry started shifting away from fair treatment for photographers towards higher return on investments. Stocksy’s ideals and vision connect well with Ivar’s own, making it a perfect fit for him to take on the role as Community Manager. Thanks to his diverse backgrounds in commercial photography, design and programming, as well as him traveling and teaching on five continents, Ivar feels naturally comfortable being in a position that involves contact with a diverse range of people.

Marko graduated from the Cinematography Department at the Faculty of Drama Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. Since then, he has been working as a cinematographer/colorist on various projects like films, tv series, commercials, and documentaries.

After being a Stocksy contributor since 2013, he joined the Stocksy team to help with video stuff as Artist Relations Associate. Marko is always looking forward to going to the mountains, trying not to shoot on the phone and loving film.

Jade Lacosse is a hopeless nerd, a long time Linux enthusiast and programmer. After studying Computer Engineering at Uvic and working in web development, embedded systems, and ecommerce, Jade joined the Stocksy dev team in late 2015. Born, raised, and currently living in the Yukon, Jade is of mixed settler/Anishinaabe roots. In her off time, she enjoys the rich arts, culture, and natural majesty of the North.

Jen is a lifestyle photographer with a background in film and TV production. She joined Stocksy as a Co-op member in 2013 and started her role on the Artist Relations team in 2015. She likes video and board games, bad horror movies, and bubble tea. She lives in Toronto with her husband, baby, and crazy wheaten terrier.

Pavel is a Bulgaria native and has enjoyed photography since a young age. An avid Tolkien and Pratchett fan, he has a Steam account full of games and is a chronic binge-watcher of TV shows. Pavel loves Italy and would love to do a country-wide vacation some day.

Like many kids, Shaun was born curious and eager to learn. Taking apart all the things much to his parents’ chagrin.

His curiosity has not diminished, and he continues to explore new learning opportunities, both as a software developer and in his personal life. Engaging in projects that challenge him to work outside his knowledge and skill set, is exciting and rewarding.

He was born in South Africa and has a deep love of nature and animals. These days, home is on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in British Columbia. He enjoys the small-town life and natural environment.

Ken is a veteran digital and brand marketer. With 20+ years experience in all aspects of digital marketing, online community building, and information management, he loves to bring structure and story-telling together to create compelling brand experiences.

As a photographer, Ken works mostly with black and white film and home darkroom techniques. He may or may not have too many vintage film cameras on his shelf. Ken lives with his family on a small scale organic farm in Grey County, Ontario.

Matt Watson is a graduate of UVic’s Software Engineering program, and joined the Stocksy team pre-launch in January of 2013. In his off hours he enjoys politics, hiking, biking, caving and adventuring across Vancouver Island.

Aaron Bergunder

Aaron joined Stocksy as a designer in 2020 right in the middle of the pandemic, really capitalizing on the chaos of the moment. Raised beneath the expansive grey blanket skies of the Pacific Northwest, he loves to add color and contrast to the world through his work.

Beyond his concerns with typography and layouts, he often ponders the value of a good chair and which MuchMusic VJ had the greatest impact on Canadian culture. He firmly believes disco is always the right mood.

Karim (KK) is a London based photographer, he joined Stocksy as a founding photographer in 2013, and joined the editing team in 2014. Karim has worked in stock photography for many years, and has previously taught Media studies and Music Technology at CTK London, before deciding to work in the photography industry full time. His interests are shooting analogue photography, polaroids, playing music and motorbikes.

Micky is a Cape Town-based lifestyle, documentary, and sport photographer. He has been a contributor at Stocksy since the beginning and has worked as a professional photographer in over 50 countries. When not working, Micky can be found exploring and climbing mountains with his partner Vikki or trying to keep his hyper-active dog Ben entertained.

Geoffrey has worked in different areas of finance as part of operations, as well as on a project management team. He has diverse experience in pharmaceuticals, logistics and shared service companies that have served different B2B clients around the globe.

Geoffrey focuses on customer experience and continuous improvement. He loves playing basketball, watching documentaries or true-story movies, museum-hopping, and taking pictures of anything/anyone.

With a great deal of experience in business banking as well as client and sales management, Keith has developed an understanding of the big picture in regard to finance. When not shaking down people for lunch money he spends his time touring, mixing bands, and hanging with his wonderful wife and kids. And yes he can count past four.

Her perfect day includes poutine, sea glass, dog walks and beach hair. Cara lives on the coast of Maine with her husband, 3 kids, 2 cats and 2 English setters.

Kayleigh Rees

Kayleigh is from the creative city of Bristol, UK. She joined Stocksy in the summer of 2022 following a move to Victoria with her husband and Border Collie. Over the last decade, she’s been busy with digital marketing campaigns for well-known brands across Canada and the UK.

Kayleigh loves to travel, and all of the planning that goes into it. On the weekend she’s either climbing, paddle boarding, playing board games or watching soccer.

So eventually, he decided to take his natural love for narratives and storytelling and started working in marketing.

Leandro is a Barcelona based photographer and art director from Buenos Aires, working with images since the early 2000s, lived and worked in influential cities like Sydney and Barcelona. Since 2014 is part of the content editor team in Stocksy United, working closely with some of the most talented artists in the stock industry. He likes 80s movie classics, and dulce de leche.

Boris Jovanovic

Editor

Boris graduated from graphic design and has been creating illustrations and photography ever since - sometimes even snapping a photo just to capture a particular light. He joined Stocksy in 2014 as a contributor and his perspective on stock photography has never been the same. After years of freelancing, Boris now joins Stocksy’s Artist Relations team.

You’ll likely find Boris snowboarding and cycling around Belgrade or on the mountainside around Serbia. He also loves scuba diving and long downhill bike rides.

Daniel Ross is a veteran software developer with extensive experience in web development, design and digital photography. Prior to Stocksy United, Daniel provided his technical know-how and business acumen as lead developer for iStock and director of Getty Images’ LIFE.com joint venture with Time Inc.

Outside of his technical pursuits, Dan enjoys cycling, playing trombone, taekwondo, dungeon mastering and having fun with his family.

Janele Halpenny

Janele worked across the hall from the first Stocksy office and ever since, has been following the company and waiting for the perfect moment to get involved. After working in digital advertising for many years, she was looking for a position where she could feel excited about what she was selling. The stars aligned and she was thrilled to join the team and show the world (well, mostly corporate and enterprise clients) what an amazing collection Stocksy has to offer.

Janele’s favorite way to spend a weekend is cooking up an amazing brunch (homemade hollandaise, always) followed by a long bike ride to check out a local brewery/cidery/winery. She loves her French Bulldog, hates olives, and thinks traveling is the very best.

Margaret arrived at Stocksy following a winding career path with over 10 years of experience in customer service and retail sales. Following law school at the University of Michigan, she practiced in legal fields grounded in the protection of individuals, including high-conflict custody and consumer protection litigation. Margaret was first accepted as a photographer at Stocksy, but quickly fell in love with the co-op and joined Stocksy’s staff as a legal advisor in 2014 before transitioning to full-time counsel in 2015. Margaret strives to protect artists and their work while balancing the needs of Stocksy’s clients. She specializes in licensing, cooperative governance, and translating legal documents so they can be understood by non-lawyers. She is based in Chicago, licensed to practice in Illinois and Michigan, and sits on the DMLA Legal Committee.

Sean was truly born at the age of 11 when he purchased his first computer, a speedy 8088 with a turbo button. He is a graduate of the BCIT Avionics program, with a sprinkle of Telecom on top.

His current focuses are DevOps and Systems Administration of the Stocksy Platform. When not at Stocksy HQ, he can be found on his BMX, road, or dirt bike. Sean is also fueled by wave action, the sound of surf, and controlled turbulence. Born and raised in Vancouver, his heart and soul will never leave Vancouver Island.

Mark has a background as an event and editorial photographer. Building on a lifetime of environmental advocacy, his focus over the last decade has shifted towards documenting resilient wildlife and wildlands across the globe. His previous career was as a university researcher and instructor. Mark joined Stocksy's vibrant community of artists in 2015 as a contributor, and he is now part of the Artist Relations team, specializing in metadata.

He can most often be found on the California Central Coast, hiking with his husky- shepherd dog Ryder, monitoring local breweries for quality control, and geeking out over obscure sci-fi and horror films.

Steph (she/her) is a data-driven marketer with an agency upbringing. She's hooked on scaling purpose-driven businesses through creative customer acquisition.

Steph's marketing experience spans both B2B and D2C. She leads with a digital-first mindset, and holds the brand mission, sales alignment, and objectives tight to every execution. Professionally, she has a passion for purpose-driven organizations, following the latest digital trends, platform innovation, and technology to transform consumer experiences.

Outside of work, you can find Steph making friends with nature, working on her ceramic art practice or teaching new tricks to her dogs.

Amy is a California girl who became obsessed with photography in the 1980s. She joined Stocksy as a contributor in 2014 and in 2018 she joined the Artist Relations team. Before deciding to work in the photography industry full time, Amy worked in the fields of education and customer service team management.

Outside of Stocksy, she enjoys creating pottery and camping with her awesome husband and children. And yes, if Amy had a dollar for every time someone told her she looks like Annie Lennox... let’s just say she’d be a very wealthy woman!

Glen joined Stocksy after more than 15 years in increasingly senior finance roles in technology and enterprise software sales and service companies. He has led finance and accounting teams in global businesses from $5M to $100M revenue in both public and private ownership structures. Outside of work, Glen is mostly likely to be found in his garden with his hands in the dirt, or searching old cookbooks or the web for ideas for the next dinner party.

Michelle is responsible for all things Co-op here at Stocksy.

A key member of our operations team, Michelle can be found behind the scenes whipping up Trello boards, running complex projects, and leading our governance events.

When it comes to organization, few can rival Michelle’s abilities. Bringing over a decade of organizational and project management experience to Stocksy, Michelle gets an unusual amount of joy out of building schedules, running meetings, and crossing things off her to-do list.

When she isn’t working, she’s likely at the playground trying to stop her toddler from injuring himself.

Originally from Victoria, Amanda has always had itchy feet and spent some years living in Japan and England. When not at work she is running after her son, gardening, collecting way too many things and always listening to music.

Jelena is a commercial and editorial photographer with a background in graphic design. Savvy and vibrant visuals are what challenge her the most. Her recipe: squeeze the colors juice into a boiling idea and leave it overnight. Tomorrow, add a powerful message and a pinch of humor. Serve it cold.

She joined Stocksy as a Co-op member in 2013 and started her role on the Editor team in 2021. Having spent a lot of time traveling and wandering around the world while working as a cruise ship photographer, she is now based in Belgrade with her husband and two sons.

Felix is a Buenos Aires based filmmaker and photographer from Venezuela. He loves to make fashion films and listen to heavy music. His passion started with music and then photography, but when he discovered the filmmaking world, he fell in love. He used to be obsessed with the electric guitar, playing since 2005, but now he is a moderated guitar player in recovery.
